The Cost of Choosing Between Monsters was mused at the crossroads of Odysseus deciding between sacrificing 6 men to Scylla or sacrificing the whole ship to Charybdis when met with both monsters. By inevitably choosing Scylla and sacrificing 6 good men, we're met with complex feelings about Odysseus's choice, knowing that life is full of harsh realities where there are no clean black-and-white choices.
